Uncontested Divorce in Uniondale & Long Island, Efficient & Stress-Free

When you and your spouse have reached an agreement on the issues that matter, such as parenting, support, property, and finances, an Uncontested Divorce can provide a straightforward path to legally finalizing your divorce without unnecessary conflict or court appearances.

An Uncontested Divorce is a divorce in which you and your spouse have reached an agreement on the issues that need to be resolved, rather than asking a judge to decide those issues for you. The divorce is still filed with and finalized by the court, and your final agreement is legally binding, you simply do not have to appear in court to litigate the terms of your divorce.

At Vaz Law, we handle the legal work, so you don't have to navigate the divorce process on your own. We prepare the necessary agreements and divorce documents, manage the court filings, monitor the case as it moves through the court system, and keep you updated along the way. Our goal is to take the paperwork and procedural burden off your shoulders while making sure your divorce is handled carefully and correctly from beginning to end.

Our Uncontested Divorce services are available virtually throughout New York State. Whether you are located on Long Island, in New York City, or elsewhere in New York, much of the process can be handled remotely through secure electronic communication, telephone, and video meetings.

You do not need to understand the court system, determine which documents to prepare, or wonder what happens after your papers are filed. We handle the details and provide updates throughout the process, so you know where your divorce stands and what, if anything, is needed from you.

An Uncontested Divorce can be a good fit for couples who have already worked out their terms themselves, reached an agreement through mediation, or simply know what they want their divorce agreement to say and need an attorney to properly document and finalize it.

Once the terms are settled, our role is to help turn those decisions into the legal documents necessary to complete your divorce, allowing you to focus less on paperwork and procedure and more on moving forward.

    QDRO Services: $2,000 Flat Fee

A Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) is a specialized court order that may be required to divide certain retirement benefits between spouses as part of a divorce.

Vaz Law does not draft QDROs in-house. When a QDRO is required, we work with an experienced outside QDRO Consultant who prepares the specialized order.

Our $2,000 flat fee per QDRO covers Vaz Law's work related to the QDRO process, including reviewing and incorporating the necessary retirement-division language into your divorce documents, coordinating the QDRO process, and handling the necessary Court filing. The additional fee for the QDRO Consultant is paid directly to the Consultant and may be about $1,000 per QDRO, although Vaz Law does not guarantee another professional's fees.

Please note: The $2,000 flat fee is separate from any other legal or mediation fees paid to Vaz Law. The outside QDRO professional will also charge a separate fee for preparing the QDRO, which is paid directly to that professional and is not included in Vaz Law's flat fee.

    Uncontested Divorce FAQs

Do we have to go to court?

In almost all uncontested cases handled by Vaz Law, court appearance is not required.

    How fast is it finalized?

Long Island court processing times typically range 2 to 5 months.

What if we agree on most things but not everything?

We can resolve the remaining issues through negotiation or a short mediation session before filing. As long as the final agreement is signed by both spouses, the divorce stays uncontested.

How much does an uncontested divorce cost?

We offer clear flat-fee pricing for uncontested divorces, so you know the total cost upfront. There are no surprise hourly charges, and court filing fees are quoted separately.

What if my spouse won't sign?

If your spouse refuses to participate, your matter may need to proceed as a contested case. We'll explain your options clearly and help you choose the most efficient path forward.

Does an uncontested divorce include child custody and support?

Yes. We draft a complete parenting plan and calculate child support according to New York guidelines, then include both in your settlement agreement so everything is resolved in one filing.
